Texas Five-Star QB Commit Dia Bell Makes Major Recruitment Decision

For college football programs needing a top quarterback recruit to headline their 2026 class, it's no secret they need to move quickly.

Not only do many recruits prefer to have their recruitment shut down before their senior year, but plenty of quarterbacks are already off the board. Seven of the top 15 quarterbacks in On3's rankings are already committed. Five of the remaining eight who have yet to decide already have a program that ON3's RPM machine views as a favorite.

So, teams in need of a top signal-caller may need to begin looking at players to flip. One player that a handful of notable programs are after is five-star Texas commit Dia Bell. The son of former NBA player Raja Bell pledged to the Longhorns back in June 2024 and, based on a recent interview with On3, is firmly locked in.

"As of right now I don’t have any plans to visit anyone else besides the University of Texas," Bell told On3's Steve Wiltfong.

Wiltfong reported that programs such as LSU, Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia have been after Bell even despite his commitment, but doesn't think it is likely that he will be entertaining any of them beyond phone calls.

The Longhorns put together the No. 1 class in the country in 2025, and are looking to do the same in 2026. Headlined by Bell, the class currently holds three commitments, and ranks as the No. 10 class in the country.

This past season at American Heritage (FL) Bell threw for 2,597 yards with 29 touchdowns to six picks. He also rushed for 561 yards and five scores on the ground. When he gets to campus, he may be in line to replace or backup Arch Manning.
