Texas Football WR Makes Arch Manning Leadership Statement

Arch Manning is showing his Texas teammates that leadership goes far beyond the field.

Last week, the sophomore quarterback traveled to St. Louis with wide receiver Ryan Wingo to help out at Wingo’s youth football camp at St. Louis University High School.

Manning said Wingo invited him a couple of months ago, and he didn’t think twice about saying yes.

“Ryan’s a great guy, obviously a great player, but a good teammate and just a good person,” Manning said.

While the gesture may have seemed simple from the outside, it carried real weight in the Texas locker room.

On Monday, wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. spoke to Cory Mose of KVUE News in Austin and offered his perspective on why it mattered.

“I think that everybody's from different places," Moore said. "And, you know, just coming together and and Arch being from where he's from and, you know, going down to Saint Louis and, you know, really extend the hand of Wingo and just showing Wingo that, okay. I'm coming down to where you guys are and, you know, coming to, you know, the hood. Like, most most quarterbacks ain't gonna do that. So just ours going out there, you know, kudos to him, and we really appreciate it."

Manning saw limited action last season, but showed flashes—completing 68 percent of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions across 10 appearances.

With Quinn Ewers now off to the NFL, 2025 could be Manning’s year on the field.

But this summer, he’s already making his presence felt as a teammate and leader.
