Easiest early prediction for the 2025 season: the Texas-Ohio State will be the featured game on Fox’s Big Noon Saturday. Bank on it.
The Longhorns will have the Buckeyes circled on their calendars the entire offseason. But they’ll still have to face another rugged slate of SEC games in October and November.
The SEC unveiled each team’s conference schedule on Wednesday, and now Texas knows the dates and order for all 12 opponents in 2025. No games at home in October? When is the Georgia rematch between the hedges?
When is Texas A&M coming to Austin?
The specific teams Texas would play was already known. The league office had already announced that each team would play the same schools in 2024 and 2025 but the locations would be flipped. It’s part of an experiment to see whether SEC would stick with an eight-game schedule or move to a nine-game slate in 2026.

Another 10-win season is certainly possible, especially if Arch Manning assumes control of the offense next season, as many inside the program expect.
Here's a look at the full 2025 schedule for the Texas Longhorns going into coach Steve Sarkisian's fifth season. All times and TV channels will be determined at a later date.
Texas and Ohio State have met only three times in school history — a home-and-home series in 2005-06 and then in the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. This will have all the buildup you’d expect from two well-known brands.
First-year coach Tom Herman suffered a stunning loss to Maryland in the 2017 season opener. The next week, Herman switched quarterbacks to Sam Ehlinger as Texas crushed San Jose State 56-3. It’s the only time these two have ever met.
Texas is 6-0 over its sister school from the UT System. The scores have always been lopsided. Over the last four games, Texas has won 42-13 (2008), 64-7 (2009), 41-7 (2016) and 59-3 (2020).
This will be just the second meeting between the two schools. The first came in 2006 when the defending national champion Longhorns won 56-3 as new starter Colt McCoy was getting comfortable with the offense.
The Swamp! This will be one of the most anticipated games of the season for the venue alone. Texas hasn’t been to Gainesville, Fla., since 1940. Coach Billy Napier pulled his team together in November, and the Gators have an optimistic future.
Do the Sooners have any receivers left on their roster? This is another team that’s been hit hard by portal defections. OU’s Brent Venables will be on the hot seat next season, but this is always a barnburner in the Cotton Bowl.
This was one of the wildest notes from the entire 2024 season. Kentucky’s trip to Austin this season was the farthest west the football team had ever traveled. The Horns will bring a strong contingent. They’ve never played a football game in Lexington.
There’s no telling what to expect from the Bulldogs given their portal defection, which includes talented quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. He started eight games, including one against Texas, and threw for 1,886 yards with 16 total touchdowns.
Most Texas fans loved the trip to Nashville. Loving Diego Pavia? Not so much. The 23-year-old Vandy gunslinger has sued the NCAA in hopes of getting another year of eligibility. It’s a complicated case, but odds are Pavia will be gone when the Commodores come to Austin.
It’s still possible that Texas faces Georgia a third time this season if they two get all the way through the College Football Playoffs. The Longhorns and Bulldogs could meet a third time in the national title game. Going between the hedges will be a great experience for UT fans, though.
The Razorbacks have also been hit hard by transfer portal defections, so it’s unclear how the Hogs will look come the fall 2025. Some fans were hoping that coach Sam Pittman would either resign/retire or be forced out. Arkansas last came to Austin in 2008.
A&M officials got what they wanted this season — a home game to restart the longtime rivalry after a 12-year break. The Lone Star Showdown shifts to Royal-Memorial Stadium, and fans can bet this will once again be a super-hot ticket.
