The Texas Longhorns made it to the final four of the 2024-25 College Football Playoffs last season before falling in a hailstorm of big plays that went the way of the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
Coach Steve Sarkisian's team is expected to bounce back this season behind the play of star quarterback Arch Manning, a former five-star, top rated recruit who has finally taken the reigns of the Longhorns' offense with departed starter Quinn Ewers now with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.
On Friday, ESPN personality Kirk Herbstreit had a message for the college football world as he gave a 'Herbie' award to one of Texas' most dominant players.
"Colin Simmons = CERTIFIED GAME WRECKER," ESPN College Football's account wrote on X.
"He wins the preseason Herbie as the most disruptive D-lineman @KirkHerbstreit."
The post was viewed over 108,000 times as fans began discussing the merits of the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback and College GameDay host.

"He's put on 20 pounds in the offseason. He's going to destroy some quarterbacks," one fan said.
"He's gonna be a problem this year for sure," another fan said.
"Guy wanted double digit sacks and got nine last year. He's going to be a savage," another fan added.
Simmons has the size to play for an NFL team this season but will instead stay in Austin, Texas with designs on terrorizing opposing running backs and quarterbacks.
The Longhorns' linebacker is 6-foot-3, 244 pounds with the mean streak necessary to make opposing players feel his presence on the field at all times.
Last season, the Longhorns 'backer had 48 combined tackles along with 14 tackles for loss and nine sacks.
He showed an ability to drop back into coverage when necessary as he broke up two passes intended for opposing receivers.
Simmons is the pride of Duncanville, Texas having played his high school ball at Duncanville High School.
He entered his college career as a five-star prospect with big expectations and has lived up to them so far.
Soon, the curtain will drop on what is expected to be his biggest performance yet.
The Simmons award notice came during a time when the SEC made a controversial Arch Manning decision. Paul Finebaum's prediction on the Longhorns at Buckeyes Aug. 30 game was revealed.
Simmons and his teammates have been waiting for a chance to prove themselves this entire offseason.
With a marquee game scheduled for the beginning of the year, America won't have to wait much longer to find out what Simmons and his teammates are capable of on the big stage.
