Texas must replace a lot at wide receiver in 2025 but two players have the staff excited

It depends on how you look at the 2025 NFL Draft if you're a Texas Longhorns fan. I'm sure most rejoiced in the fact three players were taken in the first-round and 12 heard their names called overall. I'm also sure there are most who didn't like the fact the wide receiver room lost Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond for the 2025 season.

So, Steve Sarkisian went out and added Emmett Mosley V from Stanford and return DeAndre Moore, Parker Livingstone, Ryan Wingo, and Ryan Niblett. The Longhorns also added a talented group of 2025 signees – featuring Kaliq Lockett, Daylan McCutcheon, Michael Terry III, and Jaime Ffrench.

But, a day ahead of fall camp starting, two not-so-popular names are sticking out to Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood.

Alex Dunlap of Orangebloods is reporting Flood is saying two names he’s excited to see in the offense this year are Parker Livingstone and Ryan Niblett. Livingstone, a former three-star prospect, is listed at 6-foot-4 and could be someone to step up in crucial down-and-distance situations. The coaches like his speed and massive catch radius.

Despite not recording any statistics in 2024, Parker Livingstone has the makeup to impact a game.

He's no stranger to the big play – finishing his high school career with 115 receptions for 2,207 yards and 31 touchdowns in three years. Despite missing most of his senior year with a foot injury, he cemented his place in Texas' 2024 class with a week one performance for the ages.

Livingstone finished with 12 receptions for 252 yards and three touchdowns versus College Station (Tex.) in Week One.

The pressure to make big plays will pick up considerably August 30 when Livingstone and Texas take on Ohio State August 30. But, the coaches are already excited to see what he can do with an expanded role.

Ryan Niblett has now officially made the transition to wide receiver.

The third-year player form Eisenhower (Tex.) has played in 18 career games at three different positions. But, as Flood alluded to Tuesday, he is now expected to make a move in the wide receiver room.

In high school, the All-American Bowl selection was all-state, two-time all-district, and district offensive MVP after hauling in 55 passes for 1,088 yards and 10 touchdowns. Now, he will be tasked to come in and provide a spark in the slot.

Inside Texas recently wrote about Niblett and his versatility. He also compared him to a former Longhorn.

"A theme is emerging. He’s kind of like Silas Bolden in a way but I think they’ll use him more. He’s thicker, even more versatile—he can play in the slot or running back. He’s incredibly fast—fastest guy on the team—super smart and selfless. He’ll be in the NFL for sure.”
