Several Texas Longhorns football coaches gave the media and fans insight into the team on Tuesday.

Numerous topics were discussed but one of the most notable is a key position battle that will take place in fall camp. Texas offensive coordinator and offensive line coach confirmed that there will be a competition for the starting right tackle spot.

The right tackle position battle will be between true freshman Brandon Baker and redshirt sophomore Andre Cojoe. Many are predicting Baker to win the job as a former five-star offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class. He was ranked the No. 2 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports.

While the Longhorns certainly aren't shy when it comes to playing true freshman in key positions, see former left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. for example, but Baker will have to prove consistently throughout fall camp that he's capable of sliding into that role.

Cojoe, who was a three-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, has seemingly developed well since arriving in Austin to be considered for the starting spot. Flood is known for developing and producing NFL-ready offensive lineman.

Last year, Texas started Cameron Williams at right tackle and he had a breakout year that saw him selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

This position battle will be the top one to watch throughout fall camp.
