Texas Predicted To Lose Five-Star Recruit To College Football Powerhouse

The Texas Longhorns are heading into an exciting 2025 season now that quarterback Arch Manning is set to take over, as ESPN BET ties them for the best odds (+500) to win the national championship.

Even with high expectations that will soon be put to the test, head coach Steve Sarkisian is keeping one eye on the future and has put together a strong 2026 recruiting class, which ranks No. 13 in the nation.

One big-time name they've been pushing for is tight end Mark Bowman out of Santa Ana, California, which appeared to have been a done deal, as On3's Max Torres predicted for him to commit to the Longhorns on April 29.

However, things can change in the blink of an eye, and on Thursday, another prediction from On3, this time from Jake Reuse, now has Bowman landing with the Georgia Bulldogs.

"While Texas holds a ton of buzz for the talented pass catcher, I’m hearing enough on my end to think that the Bulldogs may be more formidable than folks realize, and as such, I’m putting in a prediction for Georgia to land his services in the end," Reuse wrote.

Of course, this would be a huge loss for the Longhorns and a major gain for the Bulldogs, as On3 Industry Rankings place Bowman as a five-star recruit, the No. 2 tight end and the No. 22 player in the nation.

In his two seasons at the varsity level for Mater Dei High School, he's played in 20 games, accumulating 43 receptions, 560 yards and 12 touchdowns.

If he does land with Georgia, Bowman would be joining other big names in their 2026 recruiting class, including five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford and four-star safety Zech Fort.
