Texas Quarterback Quinn Ewers Breaks Silence On $6 Million Transfer Rumor

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers is about to play in the biggest game of his career on Friday night against Ohio State.

Ewers has led Texas to the College Football Playoff semifinals and is two wins away from becoming a national champion. Only Ohio State and Notre Dame stand in his way.

Despite getting ready for the game, he's also dealing with a report from On3's Pete Nakos that says that he has a $6 million transfer offer from another program. Ewers was asked about the report during a recent media session but didn't want to discuss it since he's only thinking of his current teammates.

"First off, I think I'd be doing a disservice to my teammates about me even thinking about what's next," Ewers said, (first transcribed by Sports Illustrated). "What's right in front of us isn't over yet."

He later stated that he'd be "too selfish" to think about that transfer offer right now. He didn't exactly deny the report but he's only worried about what's in front of him, which makes perfect sense.

Ewers has been great for the Longhorns during the CFP, making some big-time throws in some clutch moments. A perfect example of that came during their quarterfinal game against the Arizona State Sun Devils. With the Longhorns down to their final play, Ewers hit Matthew Golden for the game-saving touchdown before throwing the game-winning touchdown in double overtime.

The Longhorns were then able to get an interception after Ewers threw that game-winning score.

'Ewers finished that game with 322 passing yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. He has thrown for 3,189 yards with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season heading into Friday's Cotton Bowl.

Kickoff for Friday's contest will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will have the call.
