Texas' Quinn Ewers Reacts to Arch Manning's Spring Football Game

The future is bright for the Texas Longhorns. As they move into the SEC, quarterback Quinn Ewers is using his experience -- after leading the program to the playoffs a season ago -- to help the Longhorns adapt to the sport's toughest league.

While Ewers is going to help Texas make their mark in year one in the SEC, Arch Manning is going to hold things down when Ewers leaves for pro football. On Saturday, Manning was able to show Longhorns fans more of his potential during the team's spring football game.

Entering his second season of college football, Manning shined in the game. He completed 19 of his 25 passes for 355 passing yards and three touchdowns. Ewers was very complimentary of both Manning and Trey Owens after the game.

"They both did a great job of showcasing how much they’ve both grown throughout this whole entire spring," Ewers said. "It was fun to watch."

The nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning is a fan-favorite and one of college football's most well-known athletes, despite being in a backup role. He's got the support of not only the fan base, but Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

"I wanted Arch to be able to just go play football," Sarkisian said, per ESPN's Dave Wilson. "He hadn't really played in a year. ...When he keeps his eyes up and steps up in the pocket, he can deliver those balls down the field the way we like to play. It was good to see, and it's good to see some of the guys around him play with him the way that they did."

Manning continues to shine at every given opportunity, receiving plenty of support from the Texas fan base even without having played a full game in Austin. It seems the program will be just fine when Ewers takes the leap to playing on Sundays.
