The Texas Longhorns made headlines by bringing out various Lamborghinis for this weekend's official visits.
One of the players on campus for the visit was receiver Kaydon Finley. If the name Finley sounds familiar to Texas fans, it is because he is the son of former Longhorns and NFL tight end Jermichael Finley.
While Finley, being a Texas legacy, should give the Longhorns the edge in recruiting, insider Justin Wells revealed that may not be the case. On On3's "The Inside Scoop," Wells stated that Texas has some "work" to do with Finley.
Wells mentioned how prominent the Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been in recruiting Finley and answered if there was anything Texas could do to offset it.
"Yes and no. It's one of those," Wells said. "Texas has some work to do. But look, they knew that going into this. Notre Dame has looked fantastic in this recruitment. They have done a tremendous job in this relationship, showing him how he fits. ...I think Finley, here's the thing. I think he envisions himself at either place. He could see himself playing at Notre Dame and he could see himself playing at Texas."
Finley is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 18 wideout in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Notre Dame is trending for Finley in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with the Fighting Irish given a 75.5% chance to land him. The Longhorns are second at 20%.
Wells also believes Texas has to make up some ground with five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. Atkinson was also in town over the weekend for an official visit.
Texas opens the 2025 season against the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30 at Noon ET on Fox.
