On Monday morning, the rich got richer, or in this case, Texas Tech added another All-Conference transfer from the Mountain West.

This time, it’s San Diego State edge Trey White, who’s been named First Team All-Mountain West twice in the past two seasons with the Aztecs.

White, a 6-foot-2 pass rusher from San Diego, California, has recorded 123 total tackles, 19.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one interception throughout his four-year career. In 2024, the California native was a menace in opposing backfields, registering 12.5 sacks, then following it up with seven more in 2025.

He becomes a big part of the offseason for Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders, as both of their outside pass rushers, David Bailey and Romello Height, are headed to the 2026 NFL Draft with first-round grades. Adding a player with the experience and game-wrecking ability of Trey White goes a long way to fill those departures.

247Sports has White listed as a three-star prospect in the transfer portal cycle, checking in as the 517th-best player available, and the 33rd-ranked linebacker in the class. With the commitment, Texas Tech now sits with the nation’s fourth-best recruiting class with a total of eight committed prospects. Headlined by Cincinnati transfer Brendan Sorsby, they’ve built an impressive group through the first couple of days with the portal open. They trail only Penn State, Oklahoma State, and Indiana.
