AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns are looking to land their fourth five-star commit in the 2025 recruiting land.

According to Inside Texas, the Longhorns will host five-star athlete Michael Terry III for an unofficial visit on Saturday when Texas hosts UTSA. A San Antonio native and Alamo Heights product, Terry III will watch his hometown Roadrunners take on the No. 2 team in the country.

Terry has already taken official visits to Nebraska (April 26), Oregon (May 17, June 21), Texas (June 7) and Texas A&M (June 13). He made his way back to Lincoln over the weekend for another visit, as the Cornhuskers have clearly established themselves as one of the top contenders to land Terry III’s services. Oregon and Texas A&M are also in the mix.

On Aug. 26, On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong released an expert prediction that Texas will secure a commitment from Terry III. Should Texas land him, he would join safety Jonah Williams and receivers Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench as the fourth five-star to highlight an elite recruiting class for coach Steve Sarkisian and staff.

“Texas is never a dull moment,” Terry told Wiltfong. “Going over things with Coach (Tashard Choice). Watching the practice seeing my ex-high school teammates. And showing me how they work and evaluate the news guys explaining what they looking for and what they would look to get from me all was a good takeaways and help me understand exactly what I’ll be doing and how I’ll handle working with different position coaches on getting development for multiple positions."

Terry III has played receiver and running back during his high school career, with some scouting reports, like this one from 247Sports, even giving the 6-3, 210-pound prospect the potential to play tight end or on defense as a linebacker or safety.

Terry III tallied 50 grabs, 758 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns from 2021 to 2022. During that span, he also added 93 rush attempts for 826 yards and 14 more scores while returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.

No. 2 Texas and UTSA will kick off from Austin on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.

Bryce Underwood Notices Unexpected Coincidence Amid 5-Star Recruit's Michigan Themed Announcement

The Michigan Wolverines tore it up on the recruiting trail in 2024-25 and have regained their momentum for the Class of 2026 heading into the 2025 season. Recently one of the Class of 2026's top players, running back Savion Hiter of Mineral, Virginia, made a Michigan-themed announcement, listing the Wolverines among his final four schools alongside Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee. Hiter named his announcement date, causing Michigan freshman QB Bryce Underwood to notice a strange, unexpected coincidence. Hiter announced August 19 of this year as his announcement date which caught Underwood's eye. "lol, that's my birthday," the Michigan QB wrote on Instagram following the news. Hiter is a high priority recruiting target for the Wolverines and is ranked as the nation's number one running back according to several scouting services including 247Sports.com. Underwood's August 19 birthday is 11 days before he is scheduled to take the field as a college player for the first time, likely as Michigan's starting quarterback, against the New Mexico Lobos at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. An Underwood/Hiter duo in 2026 would likely be the highest ranked quarterback/running back duo in the country based on high school rankings, should it come to fruition in Ann Arbor. Hiter is also ranked as the number one player in the state of Virginia and the number nine ranked player nationally according to 247Sports.

Raiders DC Patrick Graham couldn't be happier that one of his star pupils is back looking how he's supposed to look

The Las Vegas Raiders were without Malcolm Koonce last season after he tore his ACL before the season started. So, they had to rely on production from other players, like Charles Snowden, K'Lavon Chaisson, Tyree Wilson, and others. And, to be fair to those guys, it worked -- despite all of the injuries the Raiders had on the defensive line last season, to Koonce, Maxx Crosby, Christian Wilkins, and Tyree Wilson, the defensive line was still really, really good, and that's props to Robbie Leonard, the DL coach. Now, it's been a year -- Koonce, who hasn't played in a year, was brought back as a free agent on a one-year deal, where he will get to prove himself, that he's still the same guy despite the injury. If he is, they will likely bring him back on a bigger, long-term deal. If he's not, then the Raiders may just move on. Koonce has been back at camp, and the Raiders couldn't be happier to see him. Patrick Graham is happy to see Malcolm Koonce at training camp “I'm excited for him to get a chance to get out there and get better. I'm glad he’s back. His energy both on the field and in the classroom is infectious. The fact that he goes out there and executes at a high level, it’s always encouraging to see that, and it’s a good example for other players," defensive coordinator Patrick Graham said on Day 4 of training camp. 2023 was a crazy season for Koonce. His performance was particularly notable in the second half of the season, where he recorded six of his eight sacks and 10 of his 17 quarterback hits in the final four games, with a standout game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, where he notched a career-high three sacks and eight pressures against Patrick Mahomes. He was balling, for sure. His performance surged after Week 8, with 35 pressures, seven sacks, six tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits, and three forced fumbles, establishing him as one of the NFL’s top pass rushers during that stretch. If the Raiders can get that back in 2025, things are going to get scary for the rest of the league.

Stephanie White Puts Indiana Fever Players on Notice Despite Win Against Aces

The Indiana Fever’s starters turned in a strong all-around effort in Thursday’s 80-70 win over the Las Vegas Aces. The starting unit scored at least 13 points each, save for Aari McDonald, who registered nine points in 22 minutes of action. Indiana’s starters combined for 76 out of the team’s 80 points on the evening, which only means that the four other players who came off the bench accounted for just four points in the game. All that came from Sydney Colson, who went 2-of-5 in 18 minutes of playing time. Lexie Hull, Makayla Timpson and Damiris Dantas all failed to score in the win. Stephanie White Calls Out Fever's Bench Be that as it may, offense wasn’t even the biggest concern for head coach Stephanie White. In her postgame press conference, the veteran shot-caller called out Indiana’s bench for their lack of intensity on the defensive end, particularly in the first half. “Our bench has to be ready,” she said. “I felt like our bench in the second half was really good defensively. In the first half, I didn't feel that way. You got to be ready to come in and you got to be ready to guard your matchup and execute the game plan. "We have depth for a reason. We've got quality depth and we've got to be able to use it. So if fatigue is a factor in execution, then they just need to ask for a sub and I'll get them out and get them back in." It has been a bit of a busy stretch for the Fever at the midway point of the season. Thursday’s matchup against the Aces was their second game in three nights, and they will be back in action again on Sunday in a rivalry showdown against the Chicago Sky. White, however, isn’t accepting fatigue as an excuse. This is regardless of the fact that Caitlin Clark remains out with a re-aggravated groin injury. White is adamant that this roster has been built for adversity, and she didn’t hesitate to put her bench on notice after Thursday’s showing.

Cowboys make questionable move amid Micah Parsons stalemate

The Dallas Cowboys extended one of their stars Sunday, just not the one fans wanted them to pay. At Cowboys training camp Saturday, Dallas fans serenaded owner Jerry Jones with "Pay Micah [Parsons]" chants. The EDGE, of course, is set to play on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract this season. Jones must not have been listening. He gave tight end Jake Ferguson a new contract instead. Dallas and the 26-year-old pass-catcher agreed to a four-year, $52M contract extension, via NFL Media's Ian Rapoport. This move seems head-scratching. Parsons has won the 2021 Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned two first-team All-Pro nods since the Cowboys took him with pick No. 12 in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 26-year-old EDGE also finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Ferguson, meanwhile, is solid but not elite. In three seasons with the Cowboys, the 2022 fourth-round pick has made one Pro Bowl and has never finished with more than 761 receiving yards in a season. An extension for Parsons will devour future cap space. The Cowboys may be worried about that after giving quarterback Dak Prescott (four years, $240M) and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (four years, $136M) long-term deals in 2024. Pittsburgh Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt signed a lucrative three-year, $123M extension on July 17, making him the league's highest-paid non-QB. Parsons could command a similar contract. If cap space is Dallas' primary concern, however, why would it extend Ferguson? He's now set to be the NFL's seventh-highest-paid TE. The Cowboys waited to extend Lamb and Prescott just before the start of the 2024 season. They may be doing the same with Parsons. The star defender has said, "Ownership is always gonna make [contract negotiations] drag out." Regardless, the Cowboys should've paid Parsons before Ferguson. That's a much bigger priority for the team.
