Texas vs. TCU Score Predictions
Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

The TCU Horned Frogs marched into DKR, beating the Texas Longhorns in a 17-10 victory. That would push Sonny Dykes' roster out of the "dark horse" conversation and into the limelight as College Football Playoff contenders.

A year later, Texas is trying to do the same. The Longhorns have faced stiff competition, including top-ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa. They've bested Kansas State, Houston, and Baylor through conference play. And the victory over No. 16 Kansas is looking better by the minute.

Will TCU defend its title as the undefeated Big 12 program from a season ago? Will the Horned Frogs keep their winning ways alive against Burnt Orange nation one final time?

Here are the Longhorns Country staff predictions for when TCU hosts No. 7 Texas on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium.

TCU effectively ended the Longhorns' Big 12 title hopes last season, and as a result, Texas will be out for revenge in Fort Worth.

I think Quinn Ewers and the Horns continue their march toward winning the Big 12 title in their final season, and crush the Frogs in the process.

By all means this is a trap game. A Heisman-favorite for QB returns from injury in mid-November just in time to watch his CFB Playoff hopes dwindle away? That's not a trap game?

The Horned Frogs have stayed in games late. They nearly completed a 10-point comeback against Colorado in the season opener. They were up by seven heading into the fourth against West Virginia. Last week against Texas Tech, TCU scored 21 unanswered points in the second half after being down by 14.

Yes, Texas needs to be prepared for all kinds of mayhem in the house of the Hypnotoad. It's close but a win is and win, right?

Texas 34, TCU 30

Playing in Amon G. Carter Stadium has never been a strong suit for the Texas Longhorns, even when TCU is not having a top-tier season. However, neither the Longhorns or Horned Frogs will have an "easy win" against the other.

That said, the return of Ewers in combination with the already dominant Texas rushing attack will put the Longhorns in the win column.

Texas 31, TCU 23
