The Athletic's Manny Navarro revealed his "oddly specific" predictions for the 2025 season on Monday and he has the Tennessee Vols finishing the regular season with an 8-4 record.
Navarro has the Vols losing two games at home and two games on the road.
"Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida are the four SEC teams that get the better of Josh Heupel’s 8-4 Volunteers," wrote Navarro.
Tennessee gets Georgia and Oklahoma at home while they'll play Alabama and Florida on the road.
A year ago, the Vols went 3-1 against those four teams on their way to a 10-2 regular season (Tennessee lost to Georgia in Athens).
The general feeling entering the 2025 season is that Tennessee needs to go 2-2 in those four games -- while taking care of business in the other eight games on their schedule -- to return to the College Football Playoff in 2025.
Beating Oklahoma at home is certainly doable. Getting a win against Georgia at home, or a win against Florida or Alabama on the road, is a much more difficult task.
The Vols haven't won a game against Georgia since the miracle Hail Mary from Josh Dobbs to Jauan Jennings in 2016. And Tennessee hasn't won a road game against Alabama or Florida since 2003.
Predictions, as we often say, mean absolutely nothing. But it's always fun to see how folks are feeling about the Vols as the season gets underway.
