The Tennessee Vols are in danger of losing a four-star commit to one of their biggest rivals -- the Florida Gators.
247Sports' Blair Angulo reported last week that 2026 four-star tight end Carson Sneed is "expected by most to eventually move on from the Volunteers"
"From what we've gathered, he likes Tennessee a great deal but is strongly considering other options down the stretch in his recruitment," wrote Angulo.
North Carolina and Ole Miss have been viewed as the two programs most likely to flip Sneed from Tennessee.
Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, however, noted this week that the Florida Gators have "shot up" Sneed's board.
"Florida made a significant impression (on Sneed) over the weekend," wrote Gorney. "The Gators 'shot up' on his board and a final decision on everything should happen in the next couple weeks."
One of the big reasons why Sneed, who is the younger brother of former Vols wide receiver Dayton Sneed (who transferred to North Carolina earlier this offseason), is considered a strong flip candidate is because of concerns about how Tennessee utilizes tight ends in the offense.
"There is some concern about just how often the Vols throw to their tight ends especially as other top teams come in and try to flip Sneed....He’s an in-state prospect and playing in Knoxville is a huge deal but just how often Sneed is going to see the ball is a sticking point," noted Gorney last month.
Sneed is technically still committed to Tennessee, but it seems unlikely that he'll be part of the Vols' 2026 recruiting class.
