The Miami Hurricanes will have a new quarterback in 2025, Georgia transfer Carson Beck. Beck and Miami will have a new, talented and experienced wide receiver on the perimeter to throw to this season, but no one is talking about him this preseason.
His name is CJ Daniels.
Daniels gained 1,000 yards receiving in 2023 at Liberty. He averaged 19.40 yards per catch that season. The Flames went undefeated in the regular season and finished 13-1 after earning a berth in the Fiesta Bowl, as the highest-ranked Group of Five team.
Oregon won the game 45-6. The rags-to-riches story of Liberty football in 2023 was over and the glass slipper had shattered. Against the Ducks, Daniels was a flicker of bright spot, as he caught eight passes for 79 yards. Last season at LSU, Daniels caught 42 passes for 480 yards.
Now in his sixth season of college football, Daniels brings veteran leadership to the Miami receiver room. Daniels’ career production looks like this: 145 catches, 2,396 receiving yards, 20 touchdowns and a 16.10-yard average per catch
At 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, Daniels presents a big target, one that can create a mismatch against smaller defenders and allow for the contested catch. When creating plays in space, Daniels is not afraid to operate in the middle of the field. He will take a hit to make a catch.
The Hurricanes lost five of their top receivers from last season, so Daniels arrives at a pivotal moment for Miami. Daniels gives Beck another talented weapon. Beck will need Daniels and the rest of the Miami offensive weapons when Notre Dame comes to town on Aug. 31.
