We've been waiting for the 12-team College Football Playoff to arrive for years, and now that it is finally here, and can relish what it has given us.
A bunch of blowouts, apparently.
The first round of games on Friday and Saturday were won by a margin of 145-68, with all four matchups ending in double-digit blowouts. While there is an expectation that the further we go along in the playoff, the better the games will be, it's clear that after this first weekend of games, a few teams stand apart in terms of who can win it all.
After the first round of games, there is a new leader in the clubhouse when it comes to national championship odds, according to sports books across the nation.
Here's a look at the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook:
Coming into the week, the Ducks were favored to win it all at +325, followed by Georgia and Ohio State at +400.
After the first round, though, it is Texas who has apparently impressed the most, despite the fact that they won their playoff game by the slimmest margin of victory of any team competing in the first round.
Both Georgia and Oregon saw their odds drop despite not playing and enjoying a bye, so that will undoubtedly be bulletin board material for Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning going into the game week.
We will see how these odds continue to evolve and change after each round of the playoff.
