Florida State head coach Mike Norvell probably isn't too thrilled with his starting quarterback after comments from the latter hit the internet about one of the Noles' biggest opponents in 2026.
Thomas Castellanos spoke with Pete Nakos of On3 Sports , and the former Boston College QB had some strong words regarding the Alabama Crimson Tide, who the Noles face on August 30 at Doak Campbell Stadium.
NEW: Florida State QB Thomas Castellanos tells @PeteNakos_ he's dreamed of playing against Alabama

“I’m excited, man,” Castellanos told On3 Sports. “People, I don’t know if they know, but you go back and watch every first game that I played in, we always start fast. I dreamed of moments like this. I dreamed of playing against Alabama. They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me."
I mean, on one hand you want players with a high level of confidence, particularly with those who can back up their game with their contributions on the field. Those are the guys who can help make plays and get other guys to buy into you as a leader of your football team.
Castellanos, who transferred from Boston College to Florida State after the 2024 season, proved first-hand to Florida State that he indeed can play in the Eagles win over FSU last year, so they probably didn't need much convincing anyways.
But you probably want to keep those comments among your teammates and those within your program. Putting comments like those out publicly does little more than give Alabama some extra motivation for a crucial season opener for both teams looking for a better 2025.
We'll see if those comments re-surface during game week between the two traditional powers looking to turn the page from 2024.
