Saturday in the college football landscape was a shocking day, as four top 10 teams fell. One of those teams was the No. 7-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Arizona State shakes up Big 12 with upset win over Texas Tech

Texas Tech was knocked off 26-22 by a Big 12 foe, the Arizona State Sun Devils. Arizona State got a one-yard rushing touchdown from Raleek Brown with just 34 seconds left to secure the win.

The loss for Texas Tech did come with its backup quarterback, Will Hammond, playing the game. Hammond was replacing the usual starter, Behren Morton, as he was dealing with a right leg injury.

The win for Arizona State came just one week after a devastating loss that had its College Football Playoff outlook looking a bit bleak. A Top 10 win for the Sun Devils, though, has that possibility right back in their favor.

Texas Tech, on the other hand, should not be punished heavily for losing a conference road game without its starting quarterback. Its toughest remaining test will come against BYU, the team currently atop the Big 12 standings.

Arizona State has no ranked games remaining on its schedule, meaning it is entirely possible that a Texas Tech win over BYU in two weeks could give the Sun Devils a first-place finish and automatic berth into the Big 12 Championship Game.
