Top 2023 QB recruit Arch Manning still debating college destination

Arch Manning continues to be one of the most highly recruited high school football players in the country, and the class of 2023 prospect does not appear to be all that close to making a decision. In fact, his list of potential suitors has grown.

College football analyst and Heisman Trophy voter Brent Beaird said last week that he believes Manning has narrowed his list to two schools: Alabama and Texas. Beaird referenced the fact that former Duke head coach David Cutcliffe, who is close with the Manning family, is said to be in talks to join Steve Sarkisian’s staff at Texas. Beaird believes that could pave the way for Manning to join the Longhorns if it happens.

Not so fast, says Arch’s father. Cooper Manning, the brother of Peyton and Eli, told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports on Wednesday that Arch is not down to two schools. Rather, the five-star quarterback added LSU and Florida to his list after their recent coaching changes.

“The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Manning still has a keen eye on Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas, schools he visited during the summer and returned for games during the fall. It’s a good bet that those four plus the twosome of LSU and Florida will get Manning on campus in the spring or summer,” Wiltfong wrote after speaking with Cooper Manning.

Arch Manning is the No. 1-ranked recruit in the country for 2023. He’s projected to be the next great quarterback in the Manning family. It goes without saying that every school in the country would love to have him, and he is giving several top programs a chance to make their pitches. He has already dropped one national powerhouse off his list.

Manning has thrown for 6,307 yards with 81 touchdown passes and 19 rushing scores in three seasons as the starting QB at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans.
