This summer many of the top prospects in the country will make their college decision. It comes down to official visit season for those who have not already committed. In the 2025 recruiting class, the Penn State football team has yet to land a top-edge rusher. Which is unusual for the Nittany Lions considering they just put another defensive end into the NFL via a first-round pick in April with Chop Robinson heading to Miami. Now, Mariyon Dye in the 2025 class who is a top 50 recruit has Penn State on his radar.

Top 50 2025 prospect seriously considering Penn State football

Mariyon Dye is a 6-5 edge rusher from Elkhart, Indiana. The four-star prospect is one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class. According to On3, Dye ranks as the No. 1 player in Indiana, a top-five edge rusher in the class, and a top-50 recruit nationally. As his recruiting journey narrows down he has his final schools chosen.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 announced Thursday that the talented edge rusher is down to eight schools. He included Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue, LSU, and Penn State. Dye has only taken one visit to Happy Valley in March but still lists the Nittany Lions as a contender.

If Penn State can sneak in an official visit with Dye, the momentum could seriously shift. As of now, he does not have an official visit scheduled with the Nittany Lions.

Who has official visits with Dye?

It will be a busy couple of weeks for Mariyon Dye as he will be starting his official visits next weekend. Starting with his home state of Indiana, he will visit Purdue on May 31. Then, that will be followed by a trip to Athens and the Georgia Bulldogs. Ohio State, Florida State, and Tennessee are the following three trips Dye will take.

We have seen multiple times when players have one visit setup and they cancel it to go elsewhere. Deion Barnes and James Franklin made an impression with his unofficial visit with Penn State football. But by securing an official visit with Dye, the Nittany Lions could be in the driver’s seat for this top 50 recruit.
