Week 0 delivered exactly what college football fans have been waiting for: highlight-reel plays, breakout performances, and moments that set the tone for the season ahead.
From international action in Dublin to statement games across the Big 12 and beyond, the first slate of matchups gave us plenty to talk about. With so much excitement, we narrowed it down to the five best plays that stood out from the opening weekend.
Long story short, Farmageddon was the perfect way to kick off the 2025 season, and it’s ridiculous that the Big 12 isn’t protecting this rivalry. The game may have started off slow, but man, did the fourth quarter live up to expectations or what! The No. 5 play of the week comes on a response from K-State‘s offense when the team needed it most. Avery Johnson delivers a bomb down the sidelines to Jerand Bradley to bring the game back to one score.

While the play may not have a game-breaking highlight, the moment will go down as the first touchdown scored in the new and improved David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, and that should not be taken lightly. Not only was it the first score of the day for Kansas, it was also one of two times that Cam Pickett reached the end zone for the Jayhawks, kicking his career in Lawrence off right.

If you’re a Big 12 football fan, you’ve heard the name Lyrik Rawls . His tenure at Oklahoma State established him as one of the league’s better coverage safeties, and it’s easy to see why. In his new home, Rawls earned himself a spot on the Top Five with a wild tip-drill interception.

On Sunday morning (central time, not in Ireland), Rocco Becht and the Iowa State Cyclones became the first team to score a touchdown in the 2025 college football season. An absolute rope from Becht fell into the outstretched arms of Dominic Overby to put the Cyclones up 7-0 over Kansas State. What play could be better than the first score of the season, you ask? Scroll down and see.
Look, there isn’t a ton of teams playing in Week 0, and while we could have shoved this down the list further, rewarding the dedicated fans on both sides of the Farmageddon rivalry for their unwaivering support of their teams and to alcohol is something I will always stand by. On both sides of Aviva Stadium, beer snakes could be seen, a perfect entrance into the world of Big 12 football, and to one of the sport’s best rivalries.
