Occasionally a team has to wait years to gain revenge after a devastating loss, but sometimes that wait is only one season. Here is a list of five such games that will be taking place during the 2026 season, one of which will have especially personal emotions.
This one is an outlier, as the Rebels are looking to gain revenge despite beating the Tigers at home last season. The revenge is because of former head coach Lane Kiffin, who made a much-publicized exit during the playoffs in favor of LSU. The 2026 version is back in Oxford, which will only create more drama as the Rebels and their fans will be hoping for a joyful victory against Kiffin.
The Buckeyes will be eager to prove that they still own the Big Ten, which amazingly and suddenly was turned upside down last season during Indiana’s improbable National Championship season. This included the Hoosiers’ 13-10 victory over Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship game. Ohio State currently owns a 80-13-5 series lead, but as with everything else Indiana has accomplished over the last two years, none of these numbers will be important when the Hoosiers host the Buckeyes in 2026.
Before the Buckeyes try to enact revenge against Indiana, they’ll have the opposite situation against Texas in early September. The Longhorns began the 2025 season by traveling to Columbus and enduring a difficult 14-7 loss, which immediately put them behind the eight ball. They’ll be able to do the same to the Buckeyes at home, while positioning themselves nicely for a National Championship run. Also, quarterback Arch Manning will be looking for some personal revenge after completing only 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards in Columbus.
When it happened in late August, everyone knew it was a big game, but it became even bigger after Notre Dame missed the playoffs. Then the Irish had to watch Miami make a run all the way to the National Championship game. This time the two won’t play until November, which should add even more drama to the game considering both should be title contenders throughout the season. This means a late season loss could be devastating to a possible playoff berth.
After Georgia beat Ole Miss at home in mid-October, the Rebels successfully found their revenge in the playoffs by ending Georgia’s season. An early November game in Oxford will give the Bulldogs the opportunity to put the Rebels back in their place, in a game that very likely could determine who plays in the SEC Championship game and makes the playoffs.
