Transfer Portal: UNLV DB Ricky Johnson On The Move

UNLV appear to have lost another defensive contributor on Thursday. 

Per On3's Pete Nakos, defensive back Ricky Johnson has entered the transfer portal. 

The Rebels also lost former four-star recruit defensive end Zavier Carter to UCF and safety Jordyn Morgan to Louisiana Tech this offseason. Safety Jerrae Williams and edge rusher LeShaun Bell, among others, are also in the portal.

In 12 appearances in 2023, Johnson totaled 36 tackles with three for a loss and seven passes defended. He also has four career interceptions, three of which came in 2021. He had two in a win over Hawaii that season. Johnson missed nearly all of 2022 due to injury. 

Originally from Houston, Texas, Johnson was a three-star recruit in the class of 2020. He's listed at 6'1" and 180 pounds. Given the NCAA's ruling regarding eligibility and the 2020 season, he should have one year of eligibility remaining.
