It's no surprise that Travis Hunter will participate in the NFL Combine later this month. We just weren't sure which position group he would work out with. Well, moments ago, we got our answer.
Hunter had an incredible run with Colorado, suiting up at cornerback and wide receiver. The Heisman Trophy winner finished the 2024 season with 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had 35 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, four interceptions and a forced fumble.
After winning the Heisman Trophy, Hunter said he's "super confident" he can play both cornerback and wide receiver in the NFL on a full-time basis.
"I'm super confident, and I believe that I can do it at the next level," Hunter told ESPN's Mark Schlabach. "I'm not going to let anyone tell me that I can't do something that I already done. They said I couldn't do it in college, and I ended up doing it in college. A lot of people tell me I can't do it in the NFL, but I'm going to still do it in the NFL. You know, a lot of people just let other people get in their ear, so they don't let them do it, and some people don't have the body type to be able to go both ways full time."
For now though, Hunter will focus on playing cornerback.
The full list of prospects invited to the NFL Combine was released this Thursday morning. Fans immediately noticed that Hunter was listed as a defensive back.
Several analysts have labeled Hunter a "generational prospect" at the cornerback position, so it makes sense for him to focus on the defensive side of the football. Besides, he could still make plays at wide receiver if his coaching staff allows it.
Do you think Travis Hunter should stick to one position in the NFL?
