Travis Hunter’s Unexpected Airplane Moment with Woman Gains Attention
Doug Engle/Florida Times-Union

Jacksonville Jaguars two-way rookie Travis Hunter has had a whirlwind few weeks. After being selected No. 2 overall in the NFL draft, he graduated from the University of Colorado—just one day before reporting to rookie minicamp in Jacksonville, which kicked off this weekend.

But whether it’s winning the Heisman Trophy, going top two in the draft, or having a franchise already building around his talents, none of it seems to have gone to Hunter’s head.

On Sunday morning, he made headlines for a different reason. A woman who sat next to Hunter on a flight posted on Facebook, praising his kindness and everything he did to help her during the trip. She admitted she didn’t know who he was until she noticed his Jaguars team-issued pants and asked about his identity. Once she found out, she became an instant fan for life.

The woman's post read, "I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver. I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying "yes ma'am" or "no ma'am." Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson-so polite."

She continued, "People walking by were saying congratulations, great job, or even taking pictures. I turned and asked him, "Who am I sitting next to?" | looked at his Jaguar pants, smiled, and asked, "Are you an athlete?" He smiled and said, "I'm Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags." I already told my sons I want his jersey. He's so humble and down-to-earth-| would have never guessed he was a professional athlete. JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets. United Airlines, thank you for my seat assignment!"

Fans reacted to Hunter's heartwarming interaction:

"Damn you can tell that he just seems like a really good kid. Wish him all the best in his career," a fan said

"What a gentleman. You need a guy like that in the locker room," someone else added.

Another fan posted, "I love this. Congrats to his mama for raising such a nice young man."

One more fan commented, "Stories like this don't get nearly enough run! I'm pulling for this young man! Well done, Sir!"

Hunter is one of the most unique athletes to emerge from college football in recent years. At Colorado, he played over 700 snaps on both offense and defense last season—an almost unheard-of feat at the collegiate level.

He’s made it clear that he wants to continue that same level of two-way impact in the NFL, and the Jaguars appear to be on board. According to team plans, Hunter will begin his pro career primarily as a wide receiver, with a gradual ramp-up at cornerback over the summer.
