TRENDING: ACC QB Needs a Reality Check

When a player is new, it is helpful to understand the situation you are arriving at. Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos , who transferred in from Boston College during the offseason, doesn’t seem to understand the current situation in Tallahassee.

His comment yesterday is in reference to the announcement that the Florida State/Alabama season opener would be played at 3:30 pm. For some unknown reason, Castellanos seems to sense disrespect that the Seminoles won’t be playing this game in primetime despite their 2-10 season in 2024.

Florida State continues to be a name program that attracts attention and viewership. That is also the case with Alabama. However, while the game is still a marquee matchup, Florida State’s disastrous 2024 season is why there was no logical reason for ESPN to make this a primetime game when the other option was Clemson/LSU.

Castellanos did not arrive in Tallahassee until January, soon after the pain of the 2024 season concluded. But just because he wasn’t there, doesn’t mean that he didn’t know how bad the season was for Florida State.

This should be looked at in a different way. While having a primetime early season game is a nice bonus for both players and fans, it is more important to have them during the final weeks of the season. This tends to mean that your team is playing important games in November.

If Castellanos can make that happen, then everyone in Tallahassee will be extremely happy.
