As a three-star recruit out of Melissa High School, Trevor Goosby was the 26th-ranked offensive tackle in the country and the 70th-ranked player in the state of Texas. He committed to the University of Texas during the 2023 recruiting cycle, despite receiving offers from Texas A&M, Texas Christian, and Southern Methodist.

With Kelvin Banks Jr. firmly holding down the starting left tackle spot, Goosby failed to start a game until the 2024 SEC Championship, which Banks Jr. missed due to injury. Texas punched their ticket 2024 – 25 College Football Playoff, and Goosby made the start at right tackle in the quarterfinals against the Bearcats. In 2025, he started all 11 games for the Longhorns and posted an 82.5 blocking grade, according to Pro Football Focus.

Accolades

  • SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week (vs Texas A&M, 2025)
  • All-SEC First Team (2025)
  • Bruce Feldman’s Freak List (2025)

Best Tools

Trevor Goosby is one of the most underrated run blockers in the 2026 NFL Draft. His grip strength and hand placement are near-perfect on a consistent basis. He places his hands right into the numbers of the defender and his grip strength allows him to sustain these blocks. Goosby continues to drive after locking onto his assignment and knows how to use his length to box out run defenders.

Goosby is an incredible athlete for an offensive lineman with his size. When Texas asked him to execute pull blocks, he showcased elite agility moving from the left side to the right. He is explosive when working to the second level and showcases good movement skills on screen plays. Goosby is able to mirror speed rushers laterally and gets out of his stance awfully quick.

Tools to Improve

For a prospect with such limited experience, Goosby struggles with plenty of technical issues as a pass protector. His lower half needs improvement. It is consistently too wide or not wide enough, and this leads to a very poor anchor. Bull rushers easily push him back into the pocket and create pressure on the quarterback. Goosby can get caught playing too upright in his stance and needs to have better bend at the waist.

It would be nice to see Goosby utilize aggressiveness with his 34-inch arms. When he allows his assignment to strike first, Goosby doesn’t do a good job of reacting. He showcases good hand placement in the running game because he has to be aggressive. If he took the same aggressive approach in pass protection and got the first strike on his opponent, there could be a fix to his issues there.

NFL Projection

Trevor Goosby has the ideal height and length to stick at tackle in the NFL. His performance in the run game gives him a solid floor as a prospect, and when paired with his athleticism, the ceiling is very appealing. The team drafting him could ask Goosby to add more mass to his frame, and he will need to refine his technique in pass protection. Even with all of the technical issues, there aren’t many true left tackles in the 2026 NFL Draft, especially with the athleticism and size of Goosby.
