Does anyone remember Tulane?

It’s been blown off and forgotten with all the fun being had by Memphis, North Texas, South Florida, and Navy in the American Conference race, but the Green Wave are unbeaten in league play, and the only loss was to Ole Miss.

With Memphis up next, it has to get by UTSA to realistically lock in a spot in the conference title game - it plays Florida Atlantic, Temple, and Charlotte to go.

UTSA got walloped by North Texas and lost to Temple, and it gets a trip to USF up next. It desperately needs this, or the 3-4 team is realistically done.

How To Watch Tulane vs UTSA

TV: ESPN
Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX

Why Tulane Will Win

UTSA doesn't have the consistency on either side of the ball to hang around if Tulane brings its B- game.

The Green Wave haven't been anything amazing, but they know how to win. They don't turn the ball over enough to give UTSA anything easy, and they're efficient.

The best way to put Tulane's style is that it's measured.

Quarterback Jake Retzlaff is accurate, the running game is solid, and it should be able to adapt on the fly. Yeah, games are too close, and it took a few miracles to stay 6-1 - the win over Army was ridiculous - but ...

Why UTSA Will Win

The Tulane defense isn't good enough on third downs, and the defense as a whole leaves too many openings to take over.

UTSA knows how to run. Owen McCown is a strong passer, and he should push for 200 yards in this, but the attack needs to get at Tulane's run defense by getting Robert Henry Jr. going.

One of the best backs in the American, the ultra-quick Henry has home run-hitting potential, averaging over eight yards per carry.

Ole Miss beat the Green Wave with big plays on the ground, and Army's ground game almost pulled it off doing Army things with its running attack, and ...

Tulane vs UTSA Prediction, Betting Lines

UTSA loses when it runs well.

It hit the 200-yard mark three times, and it lost all three games because the defense collapsed against the Texas A&M, North Texas, and Texas State offenses.

Tulane isn't the type of team that will step off the bus and hang 50 on the board, but it won't need to. The defense will bend, but will allow a slew of field goals - along with giving up one huge early Roadrunner touchdown.

And then it's on to the showdown with Memphis.
