Clemson’s 2026 recruiting class is off to a strong start, with 15 commitments already in the fold and rankings inside the top 10 nationally across major outlets. But as the Tigers look to close out the summer visit window on a high note, two key targets have taken a different path.
Four-star prospects Craig Dandridge and Carsyn Baker have canceled their scheduled official visits to Clemson, per a report from 247Sports’ Austin Hannon. While one move was expected, the other caught many off guard.
Dandridge, the No. 48 wide receiver in the class, was considered a long shot to land with the Tigers after Clemson locked in three wideouts — Naeem Burroughs, Connor Salmin, and Gordon Sellars. With his position likely full, the Georgia native is now trending toward staying closer to home.
“They already have their three committed receivers,” a source told Hannon, suggesting the parting was mutual. All signs now point toward Dandridge ending up in Athens with the Georgia Bulldogs.
The more surprising move came from Baker, a four-star running back who was slated to visit Clemson on May 30. Ranked as the No. 15 RB in the 2026 cycle, Baker had been a significant uncommitted target for the Tigers, particularly since Clemson has yet to secure a commitment at the position.
No specific reason was provided for Baker’s decision to remove Clemson from consideration, and it's unclear whether the move came from the player’s camp or the Tigers’ staff.
Despite the setbacks, Clemson’s recruiting momentum is far from stalled. The Tigers are gearing up for a pivotal weekend with several top uncommitted prospects expected on campus. With spots still open and targets still on the board, Dabo Swinney and his staff could close the month with a few more big wins on the trail.
