It’s now Saturday with no Texas football, but there’s still light on the horizon, as there are plenty of great matchups to watch today while Texas continues to prepare for next week’s game against the Florida Gators.
So, if you find yourself bored or wondering what other games to watch, here are two games in each time window to keep track of:
The Trojans are on a roll; meanwhile, the Fighting Illini just suffered an embarrassing loss last week as they lost 63-10 on the road at Indiana while ranked as the No. 9 team in the country.
This is USC’s third game in conference play, so it may be a little more comfortable. But you can’t count Luke Altmyer and Illinois out. This could end up being a close and interesting game, or USC could run away with it.
Playing in Fayetteville is a difficult task, proven last by the upset the Razorbacks acquired over No. 4 Tennessee last year. To make matters worse for the Fighting Irish, they’re off to a 1-2 start and haven’t been great.
Despite a loss to Memphis, an Arkansas team led by Taylen Green is dangerous, and Notre Dame has already proven that it has a difficult time stopping a mobile quarterback, so although Notre Dame seems like the obvious pick, an upset could be looming.
LSU versus Ole Miss always provides a great watch, and this year is no different, as this has the potential to be the best game of the day. As the game is being played in Oxford, the Rebels are the favorite in this matchup, according to BetMGM.
Ole Miss will be led by former DII national champion quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who’s looking to prove himself, while LSU is led by senior Heisman hopeful quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. This will be a good one to watch.
Although No. 1 Ohio State will be traveling to Washington to face the Huskies at this time, both games have the potential to be good, but this has more transitive implications on the Longhorns because this is the SEC.
Last year, Auburn stunned the Aggies in Jordan-Hare, and they’ll be looking to do the same at Kyle Field this year. Aggies’ head coach Mike Elko even mentioned earlier this week that Auburn’s offensive line could very well be the best on the field due to psychological factors after getting embarrassed by Oklahoma’s defensive line, so this is one to pay attention to.
This is a big one. The Crimson Tide is the hump that the Bulldogs just haven’t been able to jump. However, this will be the first time that Georgia gets homefield advantage since 2015, as the rest have been in Tuscaloosa or at a neutral site.
Alabama’s got off to a rough start with a loss to an unranked Florida State, which made their way up to No. 8 in the rankings before falling victim to a field storming as they got upset by Virginia in Charlottesville last night after two overtimes.
Although these may be teams known for defense, this could end up in a shootout. The spread currently favors the Bulldogs by 2.5, but it always seems like you can never count Alabama out.
Sophomore Dante Moore will be making his second start ever during a whiteout in Happy Valley, which is probably the most concerning thing for Oregon fans, as that’s one of the most difficult places to win, even as a veteran.
This will likely be a defensive battle as Penn State likes to pound the ground and play great defense. But senior quarterback Drew Allar will be looking to make his mark before going pro, so expect him to try to make some big plays.
Overall, this is a great matchup, and Oregon did beat Penn State last year, albeit at a neutral site with a more experienced offense. This game could go either way, so make sure you’re keeping up with the game.
