It's been very quiet for the most part around the Georgia football program regarding players making their decisions known to the public regarding whether or not they will be declaring for the NFL draft. Now it seems that those decisions will start to roll in as defensive back Tykee Smith has announced that he has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Smith elected to transfer to the University of Georgia after a couple of seasons at West Virginia after the 2020 season. Due to a battle with the injury bug, it took some time before Smith became a mainstay on defense for the Bulldogs, but in 2023, he showed off his wide skill set of talents.
This past season, Smith led the team with 68 total tackles, racked up 8.5 tackles for loss and reeled in four interceptions. He was an impact player for Georgia at the STAR position and was a key feature in a loaded 2023 defensive backroom. The Bulldogs have been very selective over the years with who they take from the transfer portal, and Smith was a great find by head coach Kirby Smart and his staff.
With players making their intentions known in the coming days and weeks, here is a running update of the roster movements as they happen.
