The Auburn Tigers have lost an important staffer.

Auburn has been restocking their coaching staff over the last several weeks following the departures of both coordinators and a couple of position coaches. They've now lost another staffer in Trovon Reed, the director of football and recruiting relations, to Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights.

He'll move to an on field position as cornerbacks coach with the Knights.

"It's a new day for Auburn," Reed said just a month ago about the Tigers. "We're not afraid. We're going to compete. And we're also gonna compete on that field. We coming. Not just on the field, we're coming in recruiting, and everything else that comes with it."

Reed was possibly in position to get an on the field position with Auburn this offseason but has now moved on to UCF. Reed spent eight seasons in the NFL with five different teams before moving to play in the AAF for one season and the XFL for another.

In 2021, Reed was hired as player relations coordinator before being promoted to director of football and player relations.

Auburn recently lost safeties coach Zac Etheridge to the Houston Cougars and defensive coordinator Ron Roberts to the Florida Gators. New staffer Charles Kelly is expected to fill both roles. Kelly was widely regarded as one of the best recruiters in the country during his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Where the Tigers go now to round out their staff is unknown, as they are still searching for a co-defensive coordinator to work alongside Kelly.
