UCLA Football: Ethan Garbers Reacts to Eric Bieniemy Hire
USA TODAY Sports

Your UCLA Bruins made a big splash on Saturday that will certainly bolster their offense for years.

The Bruins announced that they had hired former NFL offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator and associate head coach.

Bieniemy is a slam dunk addition, and it's a move that should make the Bruins offense elite again. Bruin fans aren't the only happy campers; players, including UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers, expressed their excitement about the hire. Garbers took to X to express his enthusiasm about bringing Bieniemy to Westwood.

Bieniemy reportedly inked a two-year deal to join the Bruins. He was the club's running backs coach and recruiting coordinator in the early 2000s from 2003 to 2005.

The 54-year-old coordinator is no stranger to success as he coached the best quarterback in the NFL today, Patrick Mahomes, from 2018 to 2022. He will surely take the UCLA offense to new heights after a mediocre season on that side of the ball in 2023.

The former player-turned-coach has UCLA players and fans at the edge of their seats. It was vital for the Bruins to make some noise this offseason, with a tough challenge ahead of them. They certainly made it on the coaching side of things; now they'll look to do so by bringing in the right players.

Garbers is just one of many Bruins players who are ecstatic about the move. We can't wait to see what kind of spark he will bring to the Bruins offense in 2024.
