UCLA Football: Further Insight Into Transfer Of 2 Bruins To Join D'Anton Lynn At USC
USA TODAY Sports

Your UCLA Bruins initially had 12 players enter the transfer portal. Now a days, it’s common for players from every school in the nation to take their talents to other schools.

Luckily for the Bruins, two of them had a change of heart and stayed in the blue and gold. However, ten of them still decided to leave Westwood, including two key defensive members safety Kamari Ramsey and cornerbak John Humphrey.

These two former Bruins didn’t have to travel far, though. Ramsey and Humphrey decided to follow their defensive coordinator and new USC defensive coordinator, D’Anton Lynn, across town. It was tough for them to learn they've lost their DC, especially after the dominate season they had on their side of the ball.

But why go to their cross-town rivals? Well, it was as simple as the two following their defensive coordinator. Ramsey's father, Stacy told The Orange County Register's Luca Evans that his son has the ultimate belief in Lynn.

“He was like, ‘I believe in him,’” Stacy recalled his son saying, after news broke that Lynn was leaving for USC.

“At that point,” Stacy continued, “I think he was like, ‘Well, I’m maybe thinking about following him over there to USC.’”

As for Humphrey, he wanted some stability. In his four seasons at UCLA, he played for three coordinators. Humphrey was done with that and so was Ramsey. On top of that, both felt comfortable with Lynn and it just so happened, he wouldn't go too far to start his next journey.

It's unfortunate that they will go to USC, but their reason for leaving makes sense. The two balled out under Lynn and they hope their play carries with their new teammates and new coaching staff.
