UCLA Football: Star DB Bemoans Wasted Chances Against Arizona
USA TODAY Sports

A 27-10 loss to the University of Arizona this past Saturday marked your UCLA Bruins' 3rd loss of the year, and this one stings given that it all but eliminates UCLA from Pac-12 Championship contention.

The Bruins were out-gained by around 160 yards and ceded 6.3 yards per play to the Wildcats, suggesting that both the offense and the defense underperformed.

Given that, here are some of the things that one offensive player (Carson Steele, running back), and one defensive player (Alex Johnson, defensive back) had to say about the loss, per Mike Regaldo of 247Sports

"We just had a lot of mistakes," Carson Steele said.

"..Overall, we just [have to] be better.... we need to take it as an opportunity to learn and be better next week," Alex Johnson remarked.

Both Steele and Johnson kept it candid, giving tons of credit to Arizona and suggesting that they came out a little less prepared than they should've.

They both kept the theme of "missed opportunities" highly apparent in their interviews, as defensively, they had some good play calls that they didn't execute on, while offensively, their 3rd down play and red-zone work were both worse than usual.

The Bruins still have 6 wins and have subsequently clinched a bowl game, but it'll only be one that they'd really desire playing in if they can bounce back strong against Arizona State on Saturday, and potentially upset USC on the 18th
