Unheralded Sooners defensive back makes waves with testing at Oklahoma's 2025 NFL Draft Pro Day

The Oklahoma Sooners hosted their Pro Day on Tuesday morning ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. 14 former Sooners ran through drills and worked out in front of scouts from all 32 NFL teams, hoping to make their NFL dreams come true.

For cornerback Woodi Washington, this was an opportunity to put himself in front of NFL scouts fully healthy after years of work with the Sooners. Washington, a multi-year starter for Oklahoma, has been a thankless leader for the secondary over the years.

He put his best foot forward at his Pro Day showing. Washington posted a 10'1" broad jump, a 33.5" vertical jump, and a 4.57 second 40-yard dash time with a 4.32 short shuttle time and 7.08 three-cone.

Truthfully, I think Woodi Washington's stock would be a tad higher if he stuck to his outside cornerback position this season. The injuries in the secondary, particularly Kendal Dolby, forced him to move around inside and outside and it never felt like he was settled in at one position. Additionally, he battled injuries of his own, limiting his availability and ability in the games regardless of where he played.

Still, there's something to be said about the character of Washington, who worked his tail off to improve every year and buckled down to do what the coaches asked him to do. His team-first mindset and leadership stood out and is an underappreciated part of Oklahoma's defensive turnaround.

Despite playing for six seasons with the Sooners, Woodi Washington seemingly doesn't have much buzz from NFL scouts about his viability for the next level. However, his Pro Day showing just might turn some opinions around and earn him a shot for the NFL.
