Updated odds to win the 2017 College Football Playoff

Updated odds to win the College Football Playoff. Odds as of Sept. 26, according to Sportsbook.ag.

1 of 26

Alabama: 7/2

Alabama: 7/2

The Crimson Tide hopes to repeat, and Alabama is off to a fine start at 4-0. The Tide has a few tough tests coming up, at Arkansas, at Tennessee and vs. Texas A&M. If 'Bama can survive that stretch, it'll almost certainly claim the SEC West and possibly much more.

Ohio State: 4/1

Ohio State: 4/1

Urban Meyer's team really hasn't been tested yet, which is to its credit. The Buckeyes beat Oklahoma 45-24 on the road and now circle a matchup against Wisconsin in Madison in mid-October. Other tough games include vs. Nebraska, at Michigan State and vs. Michigan in the final regular-season game of the year.

Clemson: 5/1

Clemson: 5/1

With the return of quarterback Deshaun Watson and a host of other great offensive talent, many expected Clemson to waltz into the College Football Playoff. The Tigers have had tough sledding in the early going, including a six-point win at Auburn and a six-point win against Troy. Their matchup against Louisville could decide their season's ceiling, and their late October game at Florida State will also be difficult.

4 of 26

Louisville: 5/1

Louisville: 5/1
Aaron Doster / USA Today Sports Images

The major surprise of the early season, Louisville had dominated all comers through four games behind quarterback Lamar Jackson, including Florida State. The Cardinals get the ultimate test against Clemson, but a win could vault them to the College Football Playoff. A game at Houston also stands in their way.

Michigan: 10/1

Michigan: 10/1
Rick Osentoski / USA Today Sports Images

The Wolverines have cruised through an easy early season schedule as they head toward a clash with Wisconsin. If they can survive, their most difficult remaining games are at Michigan State, at Iowa and at Ohio State.

Houston: 15/1

Houston: 15/1
Aaron Doster / USA Today Sports Images

The Cougars shocked the college football world by handling the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 1 and have won three more games since. Their performance in Week 3 against Cincinnati wasn't impressive, but they have an easy AAC schedule ahead with the exception of their Nov. 17 clash vs. Louisville. They have a good shot to run the table and make the College Football Playoff if quarterback Greg Ward Jr. can stay on the field.

7 of 26

Washington: 15/1

Washington: 15/1
Casey Sapio / USA Today Sports Images

The Huskies were one of the most hyped teams in college football coming into the season and haven't slipped up yet, even though they had to go to overtime at Arizona. They'll get a huge test against Stanford, which will likely determine their viability as a College Football Playoff team.

8 of 26

Tennessee: 20/1

Tennessee: 20/1
Randy Sartin / USA Today Sports Images

Tennessee was nearly the embarrassment of college football in Week 1, requiring overtime to beat Appalachian State. Since then, the Volunteers have come together, particularly in Week 4 with a second-half push to beat Florida. The next three weeks are brutal, at Georgia, at Texas A&M and vs. Alabama. Still, winning two of three should be enough for them to claim the SEC East and play what's basically a play-in game for the CFP in the SEC Championship.

Florida State: 25/1

Florida State: 25/1

The Seminoles were blown out by Louisville 63-20 in Week 3, showing a very shaky defense. They have plenty of time to bounce back, and the opponents on their schedule give them a chance to put together a great résumé. Those include at Miami, vs. Clemson and vs. Florida.

10 of 26

Stanford: 25/1

Stanford: 25/1
Kelvin Kuo / USA Today Sports Images

Stanford has three hard-fought wins, and the toughest game on the schedule come up at Washington. A visit to Notre Dame two weeks later looks much less daunting now, and there isn't another ranked team on the Cardinal schedule in a Pac-12 conference that's quickly become disappointing.

11 of 26

Texas A&M: 25/1

Texas A&M: 25/1
Tim Heitman / USA Today Sports Images

The Aggies are riding high, starting the year 4-0 with big wins vs. UCLA, at Auburn and vs. Arkansas. They still have some tough tests in the brutal SEC, including vs. Tennessee, at Alabama and vs. Ole Miss.

12 of 26

Florida: 30/1

Florida: 30/1

Losing quarterback Luke Del Rio in an inconsequential game vs. North Texas might have ended the Gators' hopes. They lost at Tennessee after a second-half collapse and still have Georgia, Arkansas and Florida State on their slate.

13 of 26

Wisconsin: 40/1

Wisconsin: 40/1

It hasn't always been pretty, but the Badgers are 4-0 with key wins vs. LSU and at Michigan State. The murderous schedule continues at Michigan, vs. Ohio State, at Iowa and vs. Nebraska.

14 of 26

Iowa: 50/1

Iowa: 50/1

A loss to FCS power North Dakota State will be a blemish that's difficult for the Playoff Committee to overlook. The Hawkeyes really haven't defeated a good team yet, but that could change by the end of the year with matchups vs. Wisconsin, vs. Michigan and vs. Nebraska.

15 of 26

Miami: 50/1

Miami: 50/1

Head coach Mark Richt is making an immediate impact for the Hurricanes, starting the year with three easy wins. Now their ACC schedule begins, but they will avoid Clemson and Louisville during the regular season.

16 of 26

Texas: 50/1

Texas: 50/1

The Longhorns' Week 1 win vs. Notre Dame certainly doesn't look as impressive now as it did then, and Texas is coming off of a rough loss at Cal. The Big 12 is in a down year, but games vs. Oklahoma, vs. Baylor, vs. West Virginia and vs. TCU will still be difficult.

17 of 26

Baylor: 60/1

Baylor: 60/1

Baylor is making due after a tumultuous offseason, getting a key win vs. Oklahoma State to open conference play. The Bears would create quite a story if they make the College Football Playoff but almost certainly have to win out in a weak Big 12 conference to do so.

18 of 26

Nebraska: 60/1

Nebraska: 60/1
Patrick Gorski / USA Today Sports Images

The Huskers seem to be on the right track this season, starting the year 4-0 with a big win vs. Oregon. The upcoming Big Ten schedule could allow them to get to 7-0 before a showdown at Wisconsin, followed by a visit to Columbus to face Ohio State.

19 of 26

TCU: 60/1

TCU: 60/1
Tim Heitman / USA Today Sports Images

The Horned Frogs took a rough double-overtime loss to Arkansas in Week 2, but there's plenty of time to rebound. They do have to go on the road to Baylor and Texas, which doesn't help their cause.

20 of 26

Ole Miss: 65/1

Ole Miss: 65/1
Matt Bush / USA Today Sports Images

Now 2-2 after losses to Florida State and Alabama, the Rebels are definitely looking up at a lot of teams. Their schedule remains difficult, with games at Arkansas and at Texas A&M.

21 of 26

Utah: 75/1

Utah: 75/1
Kirby Lee / USA Today Sports Images

The Utes barely edged BYU and USC, so there isn't great optimism that they're a National Championship caliber squad. Still, the easy Pac-12 is in their favor, as is avoiding Stanford during the regular season.

22 of 26

Arkansas: 100/1

Arkansas: 100/1
Tim Heitman / USA Today Sports Images

After getting clobbered by Texas A&M, Razorback fans need to keep realistic expectations. Arkansas has shown itself as a quality team early in the year, but a stretch vs. Alabama, vs. Ole Miss, at Auburn and vs. Florida will be brutal.

23 of 26

Georgia: 100/1

Georgia: 100/1
Matt Bush / USA Today Sports Images

The Bulldogs finally fired Mark Richt because they wanted SEC titles. It doesn't look like it will happen this year after losing by 29 points to Ole Miss, but there's still a chance. Georgia still controls its destiny in the SEC East with games vs. Tennessee and Florida.

24 of 26

North Carolina: 100/1

North Carolina: 100/1
Jeremy Brevard / USA Today Sports Images

The Tar Heels started their season off on the wrong foot with a loss vs. Georgia, but they've rebounded over the last three weeks. Visits to Florida State and Miami will be difficult, and UNC will need to win if it wants any chance appearing in the ACC Championship again.

25 of 26

Oklahoma: 100/1

Oklahoma: 100/1
Kevin Jairaj / USA Today Sports Images

Oklahoma's season was ruined quickly, with losses to Houston and Ohio State in the first three weeks of the season. That's what they get for scheduling such tough opponents early on. It seems almost impossible that Baker Mayfield and company will return to the College Football Playoff, even if they go undefeated in the Big 12.

San Diego State: 100/1

San Diego State: 100/1
Jake Roth / USA Today Sports Images

The Aztecs are a major dark horse. Even if they go undefeated, they'd likely need at least two losses across the board in the major conferences to have any shot of a CFP appearance. Regardless, the offense is fun to watch, led by running back Donnel Pumphrey.
