Urban Meyer believes there is ‘absolutely zero probability’ Bill Belichick has lost control to Jordon Hudson

Bill Belichick‘s very public personal and professional relationship with 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson has become a salacious national discussion in the wake of a disastrous interview with CBS Sunday Morning last month. Over the subsequent weeks, multiple additional stories have emerged that shed light on Hudson’s growing influence on Belichick that has also impacted North Carolina.

That has included Hudson allegedly forcing her way onto the set of Dunkin’ Donuts’ Super Bowl commercial that also starred Belichick and famous actors Ben and Casey Affleck. Former ESPN reporter Pablo Torre revealed in February that Hudson is acting like Belichick’s “de facto agent:” “She’s the person who you need to go through to book Bill Belichick for a Super Bowl commercial or for the other commitments he has as a multi-platform personality. She’s the gateway.”

That influence has prompted some to suggest that the 73-year-old Belichick has lost control over the narrative, and may be losing control over the UNC program before he ever coaches a game in Chapel Hill. But during a recent episode of The Triple Option podcast, former Ohio State and Florida head coach Urban Meyer rejected that sentiment from co-host Rob Stone.

“You made a comment that he’s lost control. I’d probably push back on that, Rob. I’d say ‘No he’s not.’ What are you talking about? I know Coach Belichick, there’s absolutely zero probability (he’s lost control),” Meyer said on Wednesday’s The Triple Option podcast. “This was an interview that somehow went rogue. It became a topic of all the headlines. Coach (Belichick), I believe, put out a statement explaining the situation. It should be over and move on. … I know in my life, the media grabs ahold of stuff and it’s just nonstop. So I would push back and say, absolutely not, he hasn’t lost control. It just became a topic of conversation, (and) I would imagine it’s more outside of UNC than inside. I’m saying that because once again I’ve seen stuff in my career and friends’ careers, like, ‘What are you talking about? That’s a non-issue here.’ But the media has made it an issue. So I’d push back on (saying Belichick has) lost control.”

Meyer’s pushback or not, Belichick’s relationship with Hudson, a woman nearly 50 years his junior, has raised plenty of eyebrows around the sports world, especially after a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning in which Hudson reportedly exerted undue influence. The interview, which was intended to promote Belichick’s upcoming memoir, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” reportedly went off the rails when Hudson allegedly stormed off the set, delaying shooting for 30 minutes, according to a recent report from TMZ.

Of course, as he brought up, Meyer has dealt his own personal drama getting dragged through the media. That included an infamous viral video showing the former Buckeyes coach inappropriately touching a young woman that was not his wife while inside a Columbus-area bar in 2021. Meyer was forced to issue a public apology, but that incident was one of several that led to his eventual firing as the Jacksonville Jaguars after just 13 games in the position.

After Stone doubled-down on Hudson’s influence on Belichick, including her alleged involvement in Hard Knocks backing away from a deal to cover North Carolina, Meyer once again deflected and blamed much of the drama on the media.

“Once again, that’s all speculation. … I’m saying it’s superficial nonsense, but once again, that’s my opinion,” Meyer concluded. “Because what we know is a young lady said something in an interview that we’re not going to talk about that, and BAM, it became a topic.”
