USC Dealt Unfortunate Recruiting News on Friday

Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans just lost a recruit from the program's 2026 class.

Kohen Brown, a three-star wide receiver from Texas, announced his decision to decommit on Friday.

Brown originally committed to USC on April 2 and had an official visit scheduled with the program on Jun. 13. The Waxahachie High School wide receiver now reopens his recruitment with 42 total offers, including Arizona, Baylor, Arkansas, Auburn, Cal, Miami, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, SMU, Texas Tech and Notre Dame.

Brown is the second 2026 recruit to rescind his commitment to the Trojans. Last fall, three-star defensive lineman Viliami Moala flipped from USC and committed to Dan Lanning's Oregon Ducks.

"After a lot of thought and meaningful conversations with my family, I've decided to decommit from USC. I want to sincerely thank the coaching staff and everyone at USC for all the support and belief in me. I truly appreciate everything they've done. At this point, I feel it's best for me to reopen my recruitment 100%. Thank you all for understanding and for the continued support — it means a lot to me," Brown wrote in a post on social media.

Despite this decommitment decision from Brown, USC still has the nation's top ranked recruiting class in 2026. Riley's upcoming class features four other WR commits: Trent Mosley, Luc Weaver, Ja'Myron Baker and Roderick Tezeno.

Notre Dame offered Brown a scholarship on May 7, the same week his friend, 4-star running back recruit Javian Osborne, committed to the Fighting Irish.

Marcus Freeman's program is expected to be a leading contender to land a commitment from Brown.

USC will begin its 2025 season with a matchup against Missouri State on Aug. 30.
