USC 'Has Come on Strong' for 4-Star Courted by Big Ten Rivals

The USC Trojans' vice grip on the No. 1 recruiting class ranking is stretching to one whole month. Now USC "has come on strong" for a 2026 four-star target courted by some fellow Big Ten rivals.

The Trojans are predicted to now land local running back Deshonne Redeaux, with USC On3 insider Scott Schrager logging the prediction in Tuesday. Schrager isn't alone in making USC the pick. Chad Simmons of On3 also projects USC as the winner for the Oaks Christian High School star.

Simmons' intel points to the Trojans starting to distance themselves in the race to land the 1,000-yard rusher out of Westlake Village, Ca.

"Redeaux named his top six schools last month, a group that included Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington. But according to Simmons’ intel, it’s the local school who holds the advantage heading into the spring," On3 wrote.

USC and head coach Lincoln Riley will beat out three different Big Ten rivals from Redeaux's list if they seal his recruitment this week. Simmons included which of the three "came close" to getting Redeaux.

"At one point, he was very close to committing to UCLA and the Bruins are still very high on his list. But over time, once he chose not to commit as early, USC has come on strong," Simmons shared via On3.

Redeaux even took a recent trip to the Downtown Los Angeles area. And he has a future visit on deck.

"He was back to visit that first weekend in February, and he’ll be back on campus again this spring," Simmons said.

How is USC winning over the RB who ran for 1,263 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior in 2024?

"He really likes what Lincoln Riley is doing with the staff. And he is close to running backs coach Anthony Jones," Simmons revealed. "The offensive scheme appeals to him, and maybe more than anything, he likes the rest of the class that USC is putting together.”

USC has 12 verbal commitments for the '26 class. Interior offensive lineman John Fifita from St. Francis High in Mountain View, Ca., represents the newest pledge -- announcing his commitment Monday. Redeaux would emerge as the seventh four-star addition for this class if he chooses the Trojans.
