USC has transfer QB in for visit
Will Howard. Scott Sewell-USA TODAY Sports

Expectations are that quarterback Caleb Williams will enter the 2024 NFL Draft, leaving the USC Trojans with a bit of an issue. Head coach Lincoln Riley will need to find a new starter, and that may come by way of the transfer portal.

Kansas State quarterback Will Howard announced his intentions to enter the portal in November, and almost immediately, speculation connected him to USC.

Those rumblings were substantiated as the calendar flipped to December with KSO’s Derek Young reporting that Riley flew out to Kansas to meet with Howard in person.

That meeting apparently went well as Riley hosted Howard for a visit at USC this week.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Howard is widely considered one of the top signal-callers in the portal. And 247Sports has him rated as the nation’s No. 13 pro-style quarterback.

This past season. Howard completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He added an additional 351 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Over the course of his four-year Kansas State career, Howard completed 58.5 percent of his pass attempts for 5,787 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions, while rushing for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also caught an eight-yard touchdown pass against Southeast Missouri State this past season.

Whether or not Howard ends up as the next Trojans quarterback remains to be seen, but that decision will likely come in the very near future.
