The USC Trojans are not showing any remorse to these other big-time schools that they are out-recruiting, and even flipping away from those schools. The Trojans are back when it comes to recruiting, and they're not showing down.
One wise coach once said the season is won in March and April, and the Trojans are proving that to be right so far. Obviously, the play has to translate to the field against big-time Big 10 competition, but the talent is there. And the recruiting will only get better.
On Saturday, the Trojans had another big-time recruit commit, which only helped them create a gap between them and the schools they are competing against when it comes to recruiting. And, he is someone who is certainly going to help the Trojans, whether it's next year or the year after.
Malik Brooks is a defensive lineman from Downey, California, in the 2026 high school recruiting class. At 6-foot-4 and 312 pounds, he plays for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy and is rated a three-star recruit. He has now picked UC over offers from schools like Notre Dame, Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, and Texas A&M. He made his choice during a visit to USC’s spring practice.
Brooks is strong and physical on the field, using his size and hands to push through blockers and disrupt plays. He’s been familiar with USC for years, visiting the campus even before he was a recruit. He likes the school’s atmosphere, facilities, and coaches, especially defensive line coach Eric Henderson, who led his recruitment.
Now set to join USC, Brooks will play under head coach Lincoln Riley and aims to fit into the team’s defensive plans. His commitment strengthens USC’s top-ranked 2026 recruiting class, one that was already on fire. The Trojans are rolling on the recruiting side at the moment, and it doesn't seem like they will be slowing down anytime soon. They have a few players coming to watch spring football, players that hopefully they can flip, specifically flip from Oregon.
