Utah Transfer Target Robby Ashford Commits to South Carolina
USA TODAY Sports

Sophomore transfer QB Robby Ashford has announced in a post via X that he has committed to the University of South Carolina.

The 6'3" 218-pound Auburn QB recorded 1,758 passing yards with 9 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in two years as a Tiger and he accompanied his passing stats with 927 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

The Hoover, Alabama product was originally committed to Oregon before transferring to Auburn in 2022. Ashford had visited Utah a week before he visited his new school and with his decision has become the second QB this month alone to transfer to South Carolina in the wake of Spencer Rattler going pro.

With the uncertainty surrounding Brandon Rose, the backup QB spot is a crucial position to fill, especially with the injury history of Cam Rising. However, with Isaac Wilson entering the program this season, the MaxPreps Player of the Year is pretty much guaranteed the starting spot in 2025 once Rising leaves. That alone would probably prompt Ashford to transfer once more and with South Carolina being close to home, it makes sense why he decided to become a Gamecock.
