Video appears to show Alabama's Jermaine Burton striking fan after loss to Tennessee

Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Jermaine Burton could be in some hot water coming off Saturday's upset loss at the Tennessee Volunteers.

As explained by TMZ Sports and Michael Casagrande of AL.com, a video posted on TikTok by a user named Emily Isaacs appears to show Burton hitting a female Tennessee football fan in the head as he made his way toward the locker room shortly after fans stormed the Neyland Stadium field to celebrate the 52-49 win.

"Jermaine Burton smacking me in the head while walking past him after their loss Saturday," read the caption of the original post.

Additionally, TMZ reports a different video shared online appears to show Burton possibly attempting to hit a male fan amid the chaos.

"We are aware of the situation with Jermaine Burton as he was exiting the field Saturday," Alabama head coach Nick Saban said about the allegations in a statement released by university media relations on Wednesday. "We are currently working to gather more information."

TMZ reached out to Knoxville police but hadn't heard back as of early Wednesday afternoon.

The University of Tennessee was fined $100,000 for violating Southeastern Conference rules that prohibit fans from entering a playing surface at any time, including after a game.

"It's a difficult situation," Saban said on Wednesday about students and others storming fields, according to Nick Kelly of the Tuscaloosa News. "It's a difficult situation for the league, it's a difficult situation for all of us that are in this situation. We certainly don't condone any mistreatment of anybody, whether they should or shouldn't be there. I think you've got to have respect for other people. At the same time, it's a difficult situation for all of us."

Thus far this season, Burton has recorded 18 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns. It's unclear what punishments he could face regarding his alleged actions.
