Viral TikTok Challenge Blamed For Georgia Football Player’s Felony Arrest

Georgia freshman defensive lineman London Seymour is in legal trouble. Police arrested him last week on 11 felony counts of second-degree criminal property damage. The Georgia Bulldogs have starred in similar situations in recent times.

Heading into the College Football Playoff, police arrested two freshman players. Offensive lineman Dontrell Glover and running back Bo Walker were taken into custody in December in Athens. Police charged both with misdemeanor shoplifting.

This time, a defensive player made the headlines. Seymour, son of three-time Super Bowl champion and Bulldogs alum Richard Seymour, damaged 11 residence hall doors in Busbee Hall and Rooker Hall during a 24-hour period between Dec. 5-6, the Athens Banner Herald reported on Thursday.

Kim Stephens, who represents Seymour, told the Banner-Herald that the player took part in a viral TikTok “door kick” challenge. He also criticized how many warrants they issued for the player.

“(It) took 11 warrants in a case that they could have and should have taken a single warrant. …I expect Mr. Seymour’s case will likely be dismissed upon completion of a Pretrial Diversion Program that would include paying for any damage to property,” Stephens said.

The door-kick challenge appears to be a variant of the old “ding-dong-ditch” prank. In this case, however, instead of ringing doorbells and running away, the participants aggressively kick and bang on random doors.

London Seymour was arrested and released from the Clarke County Jail on Jan. 29 after an investigation.
