Virginia junior offensive lineman Jestus Johnson III became UVA's first transfer portal entry of the offseason, announcing that he has entered his name into the portal as a graduate transfer on Wednesday morning.

"I have entered the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility. Thank you UVA," Johnson wrote in a social media post.

A 6'3", 326-pound offensive guard from Laurel, Maryland, Johnson just finished his fourth season in the UVA football program, though he redshirted his freshman year in 2020 and did not appear in a game in 2021. Johnson appeared in 15 games over the course of his career, including eight appearances and one start at center in 2022 and six games played on the Virginia offensive line this season.

The transfer portal window opens on December 4th and remains open for 30 days through January 2nd, but players can enter the transfer portal outside of that window if a coach is fired or leaves the program or if they are entering as graduate transfers.

It should also be noted that a player entering the transfer portal does not guarantee that the player will leave the school, as players who enter the transfer portal have the option of withdrawing their names from the portal and returning to the program.
