Virginia RB Perris Jones Undergoes Successful Spine Surgery

Virginia running back Perris Jones underwent a successful spine surgery on Friday at the University of Louisville Medical Center and was able to "briefly walk" on Saturday, according to a statement from UVA football on Saturday. Read the full statement below: 

Virginia running back Perris Jones underwent successful spine surgery Friday at the U of L Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Today, Perris was able to briefly walk. He remains under observation and will be transferred to the Frazier Rehabilitation Institute in Louisville for continued care when his medical team deems appropriate. Jones was injured after catching a pass at the end of the third quarter during Thursday’s football game at Louisville. Jones was taken by ambulance to the U of L Medical Center.

Jones took a serious hit to the head after making a catch in the third quarter of Thursday's game. He remained down on the field motionless for several minutes before eventually being carted off the field and taken by ambulance to the University of Louisville Medical Center. 

Virginia reported in a statement early on Friday morning that Jones had regained movement in all of his extremities. He underwent spinal surgery on Friday and was able to walk for a bit on Saturday, a positive sign for his recovery process.
