Virginia Tech says items missing from locker room following loss to Old Dominion

There was not much that went right for Virginia Tech when it opened its 2022 football season.

The Hokies not only went on the road to Old Dominion and lost on Friday night in a pretty significant upset, but there has been a growing list of embarrassments and bizarre storylines that surfaced during and after the game.

That list already includes the game having to be delayed because Virginia Tech's coaching staff was stuck in an elevator after halftime and one of Virginia Tech's players absolutely trucking an Old Dominion fan as they rushed the field in celebration.

The latest: An announcement from the Virginia Tech athletic department on Sunday that several items were missing from the team's locker room following the game.

The school is working with Old Dominion and local law enforcement and has no further comment at this time. But obviously, that's not a good thing to have to be dealing with.

You can just add this to the list of craziness from Friday's game.

The Hokies are coming off a very disappointing 6-7 record from a year ago that included an ugly Pinstripe Bowl loss to Maryland. This season they are playing under first-year coach Brent Pry. They open their ACC schedule on Saturday at home against Boston College.
