Three Keys to Victory

These are two teams currently playing good football. The Huskies are red-hot coming into this year’s Apple Cup. And after last year’s beatdown are looking for a bit of payback.

WSU’s first goal should be to control the clock. Expect to see the Cougars try to establish the run with Nakia Watson and Jaylen Jenkins. Plan B is ball-control passing, which is something Cameron Ward is good at doing.

Washington’s secondary is banged up. The Cougars can exploit them with their group of outstanding receivers. If this game becomes a shootout, De’Zhaun Stribbling and Renard Bell could have huge days.

The Huskies have one of the most prolific offenses in the country, led by FBS’ leading passer Michael Penix. To avoid the worst-case scenario, Washington State’s defense has to play one of their best games of the season. Their pass rush, and especially defensive backs, need to step up.
